Never Again 03:14
Silence becomes me, You were my worry, My blood has turned concrete, Oh but I still wish for you. Walking the same street, Both eyes on my feet, Down in my down beat, Oh but I still wish for you You shelter and wound me, Console and confuse me, You are my thorn and I want you, But never again. The hold in my heart beat, Old moments on repeat, But it's still your front seat, Oh and I still wish for you. Still hoping our eyes meet, In moments I can't keep, But I still won't call it a defeat, When I still wish for you. You shelter and wound me, Console and confuse me, You are my thorn and I want you, But never again.

Hey Dear 03:14
I apologise from the bottom of my weathered soul That I could never give enough away And as I close my eyes and wait for you to leave me here Just hear me out before you walk away And pardon me for all the painful interjections but... Hey, dear We can't all have your heart We've all got to start somewhere Her, dear Don't let it turn you cold 'Cause all that you've been told will be here will come If you give it time, just a little bit for us to find Acres and acres of common ground Well I know that if you'd look, you'd see that I'm an open book It's just in this world I don't know my way around And pardon me for all the painful interruptions but... Hey, dear We can't all have your heart We've all got to start somewhere Her, dear Don't let it turn you cold 'Cause all that you've been told will be here will come Hey, dear You know that it gets easier...

The wheel comes to meet us Here on the concrete, stuck in the middle of this Race of motion The tracks are underneath us, the world don't get to keep us Why does it hit me now, with young blood in my veins? I will move along, dig your heels in, darling Time, it moves along, dig your heels in 'Cause you can hold me now, but not for long. I saw you coming, Your face it changed the weather, we tied our worlds together With the hope that came before us you steadied me. Why does it hit me now, with young blood in my veins? I will move along, dig your heels in, darling Time, it moves along, dig your heels in 'Cause you can hold me now, but not for long.

Just Be 03:16
Take this hand of mine, wrap it in your tonight Sitting together a world away. The wind sings a song, the waves join in and clap along Reaching the end of the day Oh Baby you and I could just be each other's stars Don't need to speak a word, just be with me And baby you and I could learn to read each other Don't need no words, just be with me. Follow me down the avenue, You bring the bottle, I will find the view A rock and a log is our table for two We'll build our own little world And stay as long as we want to Oh Baby you and I could just be each other's stars Don't need to speak a word, just be with me And baby you and I could learn to read each other Don't need no words, just be with me. I don't care where we go 'Cause baby, you are my home I'm running away with you And I don't care where we lie As long as you're by my side I'm running away, running away with you

about

Lots of great things come in twos.

Lemon and lime, cookies and cream, Harry and Ron, Tom and Jerry and Batman and Robin. Not to mention Sherlock and Watson, Woody and Buzz, Calvin and Hobbes and Jonny and June. Something happens when two make something happen together that couldn’t happen otherwise.

We Stole The Sun is a bit like that. Emily is the floaty free, jazz scatting, fun loving soul who seems to find the most unusual melodies from chords that most people forgot existed. Sam is the melancholic character, sporting much more facial hair, digging around in songs to find the right words and learning that this is a very different gig to singing in a rock band. Together the two have found a sound with all the pieces assembled in a new way.

The pair’s first release, their self-titled EP showcases this two-ness. It’s emotive but light, it’s subtle and strong, it swells and it rests, all the while providing room for harmonies intermingled, in the same way that the black and white bits of an Oreo feel like they should have always been put together. From the opening ballad, ‘Never Again’ to the happy go lucky love song ‘Just Be’, this small collection of songs is a pocket sized introduction to a versatile and complimentary pair.

We Stole The Sun are so new they’re still a bit of a secret. But with jazz training and a great beard, you know it won’t stay that way for long.
